Instant TIN Matching Simulation
To understand how TIN Matching works, you can perform an end-to-end simulation of the process in Sandbox. You can provide the TIN specified as follows to simulate various statuses.

To simulate the “On Hold” status, you can send the TIN for FAILED status more than 3 times.

TIN Ends with 0 | SUCCESS | TIN and Name combination match the IRS records |
TIN Ends with 1 | FAILED | TIN missing or TIN not a 9-digit numeric |
TIN Ends with 2 | FAILED | TIN entered is not currently issued |
TIN Ends with 3 | FAILED | TIN and Name combination do not match the IRS records |
TIN Ends with 4 | FAILED | Invalid TIN Matching request |
TIN Ends with 5 | FAILED | Duplicate TIN Matching request |
TIN Ends with 6 | SUCCESS | TIN and Name combination match the IRS SSN records |
TIN Ends with 7 | SUCCESS | TIN and Name combination match IRS EIN records |
TIN Ends with 8 | SUCCESS | TIN and Name combination match IRS SSN and EIN records |
