API Version: v2.0.0 (Latest)
v2.0.0 is the latest version of the TaxBandits Public API, currently under active development and released in phases. It introduces significant architectural changes, enhanced security, and full alignment with the IRS IRIS filing mandate.
- Added New forms - Form 5498, Form 8809, Form 1042s, and Form 944
- Incorporated 2023,2024,2025 Tax Year changes for Form 940, 940 Schedule R, and 943
- Supports E-filing and Distribution of 1099 and W2 Forms for the 2023,2024,2025 Tax Year

- Tax Year 2026 is only supported in v2.0.0. Prior tax years (2025 and 2024) are available in both v1.7.3 and v2.0.0.
- Restructured Business and Recipient endpoints with global entity management, bulk operations, and TIN tokenization support.

- Improved status tracking and transmission visibility.
- OAuth enhancements — scope-based access and category-level token restrictions.

v1.7.3 is the current stable version and remains fully supported.
- Supports tax forms for the 2025 tax year and prior
- Supports both FIRE and IRIS filing paths
- For Tax Year 2026 filings and beyond, migrate to V2.0.0, which is built on IRIS and incorporates the latest IRS requirements
API Version: V1.7.1 (Previous)
V1.7.1 is an older version of the TaxBandits API, limited to Tax Year 2024 and FIRE-only filing. As the IRS retires FIRE starting January 2027, this version is outdated and not recommended for new or existing integrations. We strongly recommend upgrading to v2.0.0.
