Overview

Georgia employers who withhold Georgia income tax must file withholding returns with the Georgia Department of Revenue (GADOR). The filing frequency depends on the employer's withholding liability. Separately, employers subject to unemployment insurance must file quarterly tax and wage reports with the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL).

The TaxBandits Public API supports automating Form G-7 for Georgia withholding and the DOL-4N quarterly tax and wage report for Georgia unemployment insurance.

Form G-7 — Georgia Withholding

Form G-7 is used by Georgia employers to report state income tax withheld from employees. Georgia assigns employers a withholding filing frequency based on their withholding liability.

For 2026, the Georgia Department of Revenue specifies the following filing schedules:

  • Monthly filers: File G-7 by the last day of the month following the quarter for the quarterly return, while withholding payments are generally made monthly.
  • Quarterly filers: File the G-7 return and payment by the last day of the month following each quarter.
  • Annual filers: File according to the annual filing schedule assigned by the Georgia Department of Revenue.

For monthly filers, the 2026 quarterly G-7 return due dates are:

  • Q1: April 30, 2026
  • Q2: July 31, 2026
  • Q3: November 2, 2026
  • Q4: February 1, 2027

Georgia also requires withholding payments during the year based on the employer's assigned payment schedule.

Key compliance notes

  • Withholding filing frequency varies. Georgia employers may be assigned monthly, quarterly, or annual withholding filing requirements based on their withholding liability.
  • Withholding payments and returns are separate. Monthly filers may make periodic payments and subsequently file the quarterly G-7 return.
  • Electronic UI filing. Effective January 1, 2025, Georgia requires quarterly UI tax and wage reports to be filed electronically; paper reports submitted after June 30, 2025 are not accepted.
  • Electronic reporting threshold. Employers with 25 or more employees are required to submit quarterly UI tax and wage reports and payments electronically.
  • New hire reporting. Georgia employers must report newly hired and rehired employees to the Georgia New Hire Reporting Program within 10 days of the hire date. This applies to full-time, part-time, and temporary employees.

API endpoints

For these forms, the state-specific methods — Create, Update, and Get — differ by form because each form has its own field structure. The utility methods — List, Delete, Transmit, RequestPdfUrls, and Status — are shared across State Withholding and UI reporting.

Form G-7 (Georgia Withholding)

  • Create — Create a new Georgia G-7 withholding return.
  • Update — Update a G-7 return that was created but not yet transmitted.
  • Get — Retrieve the details of a created G-7 return.

Common endpoints: For the remaining methods — List, Status, Transmit, RequestPdfUrls, and Delete — refer to the common endpoints shared across State Withholding

State New Hire Reporting

TaxBandits also supports Georgia New Hire Reporting through the common State New Hire Reporting API. Georgia requires newly hired and rehired employees to be reported within 10 days.

All TaxBandits API endpoints require an OAuth 2.0 access token. Call the Auth method and pass the token as a Bearer token in the request header.

Testing & notifications

Before filing, you can simulate the entire verification flow in the TaxBandits Sandbox environment without submitting real data to state agencies.

As an alternative to polling the Status endpoint, you can configure a webhook for the Status Payroll Filings Status Change event type to receive automated status updates.
